Got more questions? FAQ below, because sometimes we just need a bit more info before we’re ready to go…
Sample edits?
I offer a free, 1000-word sample edit on all editing packages. This sample will provide you with a good sense of my feedback style and if we’re a good fit to work together. There is no obligation to book in after the sample.
Cost of editing?
You may have noticed that the bulk of my editing services are priced according to custom quotes. This is because each manuscript is as unique as it’s author, no two editing projects are the same. By providing you a quote after we’ve had a chance to discuss your project, I’m able to provide you with a more accurate quote that takes into account the specific needs of your book.

Discounts?
Occasionally I will run discount offers on my services. Following me on Instagram tends to be the best way to keep up to date with any discounts or giveaways.
What are your qualifications?
I have a Master of Creative Writing, Publishing, and Editing from The University of Melbourne. I am a member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), and have been editing for over five years. Your book is in good hands.
What genres do you edit?
I edit most fiction and non-fiction genres. I specialise in editing fantasy, sci-fi, and romance.
I’m not the best fit for literary fiction, horror, or erotica.
What’s the process for editing?
- Enquiry: Get in touch and let’s chat about your project (genre, word count, type of editing needed – I want all the details). If you’d like, I can complete a free 1000-word sample edit.
- Quote: I’ll provide a quote and proposal for you to review, including the timeframe and duration of the edit.
- Contract: If that proposal and quote meets your approval, we’ll both sign a contract. This protects us both from any miscommunication and includes a confidentiality policy so you know your work is in safe hands
- Deposit: Because editing slots tend to fill out quite a way in advance, your booking is only secured upon payment of a non-refundable deposit – typically 25% of the total package fee.
- Provision of Manuscript: Around a week before your edit is due to commence, I’ll get in touch with you to ask for your manuscript file and any other supporting files you think would be helpful for me to have on hand.
- Editing: I do my thing, and you can rest easy knowing that I’m hard at work. In order to focus on your project, you likely won’t hear from me much during this time. But I will send an update around halfway through the project, and towards the end to confirm again the date the manuscript will be returned to you.
- You get your feedback! I will return your edited manuscript and any other package inclusions.
- In conclusion: many packages include a phone or video call consultation at the end of the edit so you have the opportunity to ask any questions of me, or for us to brainstorm your next steps and revision plan together.
Will you leave comments in my manuscript?
Yes! For most editing packages (developmental and line editing) I will leave comments in your manuscript. For all editing packages, I use tracked changes so you can see what changes I’ve suggested and where.
What if I’m not sure I like your suggested edits?
While of course I hope that all my suggested edits meet your approval, at the end of the day, the manuscript belongs to you and you are the one who decides what edits you accept/reject. Editing is subjective, and that’s why all edits are phrased as suggestions. At the end of the day, you know your book best.
You can trust that as I edit, I will be paying close attention to your authorial style and voice, in order to suggest edits with your book’s best interest in mind.
I offer a free sample 1000 word edit to new clients – that way you can test out if you like my style of feedback before investing in a full edit.
So… do you use a typewriter?
No, it’s purely decorative. For editing projects, I work in Microsoft Word and PDF markup when needed for some proofreading projects.
